product conception occurred in February 2006, by President and CEO,
April J. Strider.
After hearing a news report regarding the dangers posed by the infectious
properties of physician's neckties, she became intrigued with the idea of
producing/distributing a necktie with antimicrobial properties to aid in
the prevention of HCAIs (healthcare associated infections).
Soon after, she partnered with Vice President Cindy Toole, and formed
SafeSmart, Inc. and located a manufacturer who could produce neckties with
antimicrobial properties using nanotechnology.
They soon realized that the virtues boasted by SafetyTies would be
beneficial for use by the food service industry, educators, business
professionals, and beyond.
